I started the development of this work in 1995, when, inspired by Arnold Toynbee's masterpiece, A Study of History, and the book Future Wars, from Trevor N. Dupuy, I wrote the monograph A foresight vision for the early twenty-first century, based on the military history of the period 1939–1991, of the warfare evolution in the employment of armed troops, which was presented in 1999 as a doctorate's thesis. In 2004, I developed the professional work A Study of Military History of the Korean War, in which I began a layout for the study of military history supported by wargames. In 2005, with the reading of the book Wargame Design, published by Strategy & Tactics Magazine, I consolidated the matrix ¨A Study of Military History. After reading the book Japanese and Chinese Chess — the Science and Art of War, I added this new book The Study of Wars and the Chess Games, relating the fundamentals of the chess games to the principles of the Art and Science of War.
