Altı yaşındayken, Bordeaux'da Guerente, Buchenan, Muret gibi çok ünlü öğretmenlerin bulunduğu Guyenne Koleji'ne girdi. Hukuk öğrenimini Tolouse'de yaptı (1546), ardından Périgueux Vergi
