First is the awareness stage: the individual learns that the new thing exists, but he may not necessarily know what it is, what it does, and how it works. The awareness stage is then followed by the interest stage: the individual may still not know much about the thing, but he has heard enough to get a sense that it might be useful, and is worth checking out. After interest comes evaluation, a sort of mental test run where the individual imagines the new thing in his life. This is followed by the trial stage, an actual test run.
