Evan Fraser

Evan Fraser has a BA and an MSc from the University of Toronto. His PhD is in sustainable agriculture from the University of British Columbia. He's worked in Canada, the UK, Thailand and Belize and published academic work on climate change, food security, and farmer behaviour. Together with Andrew Rimas he has published two books. The first, Beef: The Untold Story How Milk, Meat and Muscle Shaped the World, is an extended series of essays on humanity's relationship with food and the environment. The second book, titled Empires of Food: Feast Famine and the Rise and Fall of Civilizations, looks at how food has shaped historic patterns for the last 10,000 years.
